Redundancy payouts are giving workers the capital and incentive to try something new leading to a 50% increase in enquiries to a domestic cleaning franchisor.
Over the last three months, cleaning franchise Time For You has taken up to 90 calls a month from people enquiring if a franchise is available in their area.
That compares to the 15 calls a month taken in late 2007 and 60 calls a month this time last year.
The franchise business is booming as people realise the opportunity to work for themselves and have a sum of money that they can invest.
For those being made redundant from a well-paid job, a franchise is viewed as a good way to re-enter employment without taking a step down.

“We have noticed a marked difference in the number of enquiries that we are getting and many of those enquiries come from people who are currently unemployed.”

In spite of living in tough economic times, Time For You has achieved a growth of around 12% over the past year and this looks set to rise to at least 17% within the next six months.
